
2011 Annual May Procession - National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal

This is an outdoor procession sponsored by the Association of the Miraculous Medal. The procession forms in front of Saint Mary’s of the Barrens Church and processes through the grounds to the grotto while participants recite the rosary. Hymns are led by the St. Vincent de Paul Parish Choir. Roses and petitions are presented to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the May crowning concludes the annual event. The Bollinger County Museum of Natural History will participate in the annual Mississippi River Valley Scenic Drive on Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st. The museum will be open special hours of 9-5:00pm on

Get a chance to see the Divided Loyalties: Civil War Documents From the Missouri State Archives, Dee the Columbian Mammoth Skull replica from the largest mounted mammoth in North America along with Dima a 7-8 month mummified baby Wooly Mammoth replica. Be sure to catch Stan the T-Rex Skull replica while he is still visiting and get a sneak peak at the new bug collection. See a 3ft. long Sea Scorpion replica from the Silurian Period and a giant millipede replica, Arthropleura armata, the largest known land invertebrate of all time. Watch out for the Giant cockroach replicas, and the Giant Dragonfly replica, all from the Carboniferous Period when creatures grew extra large.
