The City
of Charleston,
with its stately old homes hosts the annual Dogwood Azalea
Festival each April. While in Charleston, visit the Lewis
and Clark Memorial commemorating the voyagers' "first
steps into the Louisiana Purchase" in November 1803. East
of the city, see the merging of the Ohio and Mississippi River.
In East
Prairie visit the Mississippi County Historical Museum
and south of the city visit Big Oak Tree State Park, Towosaghy
State Historic Site, Ten
Mile Pond Conservation Area or ride the Dorena/Hickman
Toll Ferry across the "mighty Mississippi." East Prairie
hosts an annual Sweetcorn / Fourth of July Festival and
Tour de
Corn, a cycling event.
