Visit New Madrid County, Missouri

     New Madrid, situated on the Mississippi River, was shaken in the early 1800's by one of history's most violent earthquakes. Earthquake displays and local history exhibits on the Mississippian Indians, and the Civil War Battle of Island No. 10 can be seen at the New Madrid Historical Museum.

     While in New Madrid, be sure to visit the antebellum Hunter-Dawson Home State Historic Site, the Higgerson School Historic Site, and walk on a 120 foot long Mississippi River Observation Deck .
